This is why the DDDDD is quiet

The left South Dakota blogosphere is quiet today. Not one word about the biggest news of the day. The Senate Majority Leader went to bat for Ellsworth yesterday:

WASHINGTON - Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., touted the strategic benefits of Ellsworth Air Force Base, slated for possible shutdown, in a letter Tuesday to two of the commissioners who will decide the fate of the base.

The nine-member Base Realignment and Closure Commission now has less than a month to decide which U.S. bases will be closed and restructured, based on a list of recommendations from the Pentagon.

"Ellsworth AFB has unfettered airspace, exceptional facilities and infrastructure and does not suffer from the problems of encroachment that other bases now experience," Frist wrote in a four-paragraph letter. "In my view, Ellsworth AFB has excellent potential to serve as a multi-mission platform, or as a hub for future research, development, testing and experimentation. ... I urge you to give full consideration to Ellsworth AFB, including its unique characteristics and unlimited potential, before the BRAC Commission prepares its final recommendations."
