Yes, that’s part of the headline to today’s David Kranz column. We even have Roger Andal patting Thune on the back:
Thune's co-sponsorship of the amendment is significant, said Roger Andal, state commander of Disabled American Veterans.
"With Thune signing on to Johnson's amendment, it now appears that partisan politics has been set aside," Andal said. "Now, we look forward to Senator Thune voting on the Senate floor with 59 other senators to make this mandatory funding a reality."
I can understand mandatory funding for those disabled while in the military. But does this proposed legislation cover all veterans? If so, then we are going down the road of socialized medicine that will increase the cost of healthcare, lower the quality, and erode America’s freedom.
I voted for John Thune so that the socialists’ agenda would be stopped. This is a big disappointment. And what ever happened to the Democrats and the pride of Veterans. Remember this:
Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country
Those are the words of JFK in 1961.
And what about [note the Argus only pictured Johnson] the people of Sioux Falls:
Sioux Falls will receive $40 million to relocate railroad tracks associated with the Phillips-to-the-Falls redevelopment under a federal transportation bill approved by a congressional conference committee Wednesday.
The House is expected to vote today on the $286.4 billion legislation, which sets transportation funding for the next six years.
Both Sens. Tim Johnson and John Thune were members of the conference committee, and each secured $20 million for the Sioux Falls project.
Looks like the people of Sioux Falls can’t move their own railroad tracks. So Thune had to join in with the Democrats yet again.
