Morality and the mainstream
otI have noticed how the South Dakota Democrats have taken offense to the conservative’s position on issues like abortion. Their approach is that politics should be void of moral values. That is probably why they lie so much. Lying is a moral value that should not be of political concern. They even proved this during the Clinton impeachment trial. To the Democrats, lying under oath is even considered OK, especially if it is in regard to moral values such as adultery.
Rush Limbaugh found a Washington Post report that shows just how far out of the mainstream the Democrats thinking really is:
Well, the Washington Post also had a story yesterday by Dan Balz, and it plays off the latest polling data from Carville and Stan Greenberg and their Democracy Corps Group, whatever they call it, and the headline is this: For Democrats, a Troubling Culture Gap. "Dissatisfaction over the war in Iraq, the economy and rising health care costs might spell trouble for Republicans, but a study by Democratic strategists warns that their party's failure to connect with voters on cultural issues could prevent Democratic candidates from reaping gains in upcoming national elections. Democrats have expressed bewilderment over Republican gains among lower-income, less-educated voters, saying they are voting against their economic self-interest by supporting Republican candidates. But the new Democracy Corps study concludes that cultural issues trump economic issues by a wide margin for many of these voters -- giving the GOP a significant electoral advantage. The study is based on focus groups of rural voters in Wisconsin and Arkansas and disaffected supporters of President Bush in Colorado and Kentucky.
So what makes up this culture gap between the Democrats and the mainstream:
"Then came the bad news: 'As powerful as the concern over these issues is, the introduction of cultural themes -- specifically gay marriage, abortion, the importance of the traditional family unit and the role of religion in public life -- quickly renders them almost irrelevant in terms of electoral politics at the national level,' the study said. Many of these voters still favor Democrats on economic issues. But they see the Democrats as weak on national security, and on cultural and moral issues, they view Democrats as both inconsistent and hostile to traditional values. 'Most referred to Democrats as "liberal" on issues of morality, but some even go so far as to label them "immoral," "morally bankrupt," or even "anti-religious,"' according to the Democracy Corps analysis." What have I told you people? I've told you that this is exactly how the mainstream of America sees the Democratic Party, precisely this.
And this survey further supports my premise last month that the South Dakota Republican so-called Mainstream Coalition is misnamed. Their secularist position is outside the mainstream.
Limbaugh also has noticed my observation that the Democrats are not honest. They are even lying to themselves if they think the reason for their lost is because they haven’t got their message out. Limbaugh argues that they have and that is the very reason for their electoral losses:
Now, the point that I take away from this story and the Dan Balz story, is that the Democrats cannot even be honest. They have to shelve what they really believe. They have to zip their lips on it. If the Democrats open up -- and by the way, you know what this Greenberg survey proves? It proves the Democrats message has gotten out. As I have said all along, ever since the 2002 midterm elections, the Democrats are out there complaining, "We didn't get our message out," and I said, "Oh, yes, you have. Your message has gotten out loud and clear, and that's why you're losing," and the Democrats' own group survey indicates it. How else do the Democrats surveying people they think should vote for them come up with this idea that, as powerful as the concern over these issues is, the introduction of cultural themes quickly renders Democrats almost irrelevant in terms of electoral politics at the national level. The only way they can be rendered irrelevant is if everybody knows what their positions are. So (clapping) congratulations to all of you Democrats! You have gotten the message out! You have gotten it out loud and clear and it's coming back now to bite you.
South Dakota Democrats also believe Daschle lost because they did not get their message out. They point to the success of us conservative bloggers as a way to get their message out, so they have decided to start blogging themselves. As I have argued before, the Democrats don’t need bloggers to get out their message, they have the MSM to do their promoting. What we did different in 2004 was get the word out that the Democrats are misleading the voters through the MSM. By using Tom Daschle's voting record, we dissolved their lies. Lies such as Tom Daschle is pro-life pro-gun and for tax cuts. Like Limbaugh pointed out, the Democrats try to present themselves as somebody they are not.
So then the only thing the Democrat bloggers are doing is providing us with additional ammunition. They are simply liars and con artists. The Hildebrand boys have helped us better understand that they are liars and they don’t even seem to care about being liars… because moral values don’t matter to them. And they believe that is mainstream thinking? Think again. But they can't think straight because their hatred toward John Thune and his supporters is too strong.
The South Dakota Democrat Party is in a dilemma. They can’t be honest about their position on the issues, because their positions are outside the mainstream. They can only hope to mislead the mainstream, but then their lies are exposed and that only makes their situation worse.
And this leads me to another lie being perpetrated by the Hildebrand boys…that I want them to be silenced. Absolutely not. Please keep it up. Please keep providing us insight on the real Democrat. Please keep pissing people like Erin off.
