Jesus Cares
SDP points out the Mitchell Daily Republic's report on the Grassroots Democrats billboard. Here is my letter to the editor:
The billboard that you put up on your 9/21 front-page from the Grassroots Democrats is an example of false advertising as it demonstrates the deceptive practices that we found all too common among the Daschle Democrats of South Dakota.
First off, the name Grassroots Democrats is a deception. I have run against some of the members on the Internet’s blogosphere. They are Democrat ‘activists’. And the billboard was a response by the Daschle Democrats to the loss they suffered in 2004 due to the issue of moral values. In particular, the issue of abortion.
So second, do those who support that billboard support the Virgin Mary’s right to chose aborting Jesus? That question needs to be answered.
Third, does "Jesus cares for the poor – So Do We" refer to the Democrats support of the Welfare State funded by the so-called "wealthy" taxpayers. Can you really take credit for helping the poor by advocating that someone else pays for it through the government’s authority to tax? Does that not promote the premise that it is OK to covet thy neighbors goods? I say the Democrats’ socialism does violate the commandment that thou shall not covet, and the same goes for the right to abortion, which violates thou shall not kill.
And last, how can the Democrats’ Welfare State honestly be considered helpful to the poor. Is it common to overcome poverty and to become prosperous due to being on welfare? No it is not. More welfare will not "Make America Stronger".
The billboard is a lame attempt by the secular socialists of the Democrat Party to portray themselves as something they are not. The god they want you to worship is a government where Jesus is not welcome and the poor are used for political gain.
