Kranz finally covers it

After nearly two years, David Kranz finally covers Tom Daschle’s homestead deduction on his DC home. But it looks like he only did so to slam Republican Karl Rove:

When the majority of South Dakotans voted against Sen. Tom Daschle last November, one of the things that played into that decision was a homestead deduction he claimed on his home in Washington, D.C.

It was the subject of a series of ads by the John Thune for Senate campaign that essentially questioned his commitment to the state.

The Washington Post now reports that Karl Rove, the architect of George W. Bush’s presidency, has a similar predicament.

The newspaper reported this past week: "Presidential adviser Karl Rove may live in Washington. But in his heart and for voting purposes, he remains a Texan. Which means he is not legally entitled to the homestead-deduction and property-tax cap he’s been getting on his Washington home for the past three years.

"Last week, the District of Columbia tax collector was alerted to the situation, and Rove agreed to reimburse the District for an estimated $3,400 in back taxes, city officials said."

The Post also reported that some Texas officials are curious about his home there.

The White House says the Washington, D.C., office of Tax and Revenue has accepted the blame.

I don’t remember the Washington Post covering the Daschle deduction. Just another example of MSM bias.
