How many times have I said the Democrats make false accusations against Republicans that they themselves are guilty off. Today David Kranz covers his college buddies speech last night, excerpt:
Differences between Republicans and Democrats were the centerpiece of his message.
"While we take the offense and lead, the Republicans will be sticking with the same banalities, platitudes and false promises they have been concocting since 1980. They’ll try to keep rewarding the haves and shortchanging the have-nots. They keep trying to sell the idea that greed is good, that what America really needs most is just one more tax cut for billionaires, that our highest aspiration ought not [be] to help a neighbor, but to go shopping," he said.
"Is a selfish America America at its best?" he asked the crowd.
It the very next breath, Kranz covers greedy Democrats:
The South Dakota Democratic Party is looking to get some financial assistance Wednesday with help from their political hall-of-famers.
Former Sens. George McGovern and Daschle will be honored at a D Street Washington, D.C., fund-raiser that will benefit the party. What will it cost you?
Well, if you are a host, $5,000 will get you there. A sponsor can attend for $2,500. Actually, it is cheaper to be a "friend." That will only cost you $1,000.
One more thing noted on the invitation. "We want to encourage everyone to participate. No PAC? No problem. Come join us for the special price of $100. Federal PAC checks or personal checks only."
Yes, it is the Democrats who are greedy. They only use the poor as political pawns. If they really cared about the poor, they would make it easier for the poor to fish instead of telling them it is ok to covet the fish of others.
If you take a look at the Catalogue of Philanthropy’s Generosity Index you will learn that conservatives do take care of the poor, but they do it themselves through charitable giving. A red state verses blue state analysis of the Generosity Index yields these points:
- 80% of the red states rank higher in generosity than ANY of the blue states
- That ALL the blue states are in the lower 50 percentile.
- That the lowest-rated red states are those that went for Bush most narrowly.
- That Kerry’s home state ranks a dismal 49th.
So Republicans truly care for the poor through charity, whereas Democrats expect others to take care of the poor through the taxing authority of government…in other words socialism. And with Thanksgiving just around the corner, its about time to talk about how the pilgrims learned that socialism creates poverty, not solve that problem:
In his 'History of Plymouth Plantation,' the governor of the colony, William Bradford, reported that the colonists went hungry for years, because they refused to work in the fields. They preferred instead to steal food. He says the colony was riddled with "corruption," and with "confusion and discontent." The crops were small because "much was stolen both by night and day, before it became scarce eatable."
In the harvest feasts of 1621 and 1622, "all had their hungry bellies filled," but only briefly. The prevailing condition during those years was not the abundance the official story claims, it was famine and death. The first "Thanksgiving" was not so much a celebration as it was the last meal of condemned men.
But in subsequent years something changed. The harvest of 1623 was different. Suddenly, "instead of famine now God gave them plenty," Bradford wrote, "and the face of things was changed, to the rejoicing of the hearts of many, for which they blessed God." Thereafter, he wrote, "any general want or famine hath not been amongst them since to this day." In fact, in 1624, so much food was produced that the colonists were able to begin exporting corn.
What happened?
After the poor harvest of 1622, writes Bradford, "they began to think how they might raise as much corn as they could, and obtain a better crop." They began to question their form of economic organization.
This had required that "all profits & benefits that are got by trade, working, fishing, or any other means" were to be placed in the common stock of the colony, and that, "all such persons as are of this colony, are to have their meat, drink, apparel, and all provisions out of the common stock." A person was to put into the common stock all he could, and take out only what he needed.
This "from each according to his ability, to each according to his need" was an early form of socialism, and it is why the Pilgrims were starving. Bradford writes that "young men that are most able and fit for labor and service" complained about being forced to "spend their time and strength to work for other men's wives and children." Also, "the strong, or man of parts, had no more in division of victuals and clothes, than he that was weak." So the young and strong refused to work and the total amount of food produced was never adequate.
To rectify this situation, in 1623 Bradford abolished socialism. He gave each household a parcel of land and told them they could keep what they produced, or trade it away as they saw fit. In other words, he replaced socialism with a free market, and that was the end of famines.
This is a history lesson the Democrats do not understand. Their socialism is not a solution for the poor. Instead it keeps the poor…poor. Worse yet it creates more poverty. But that doesn’t matter to the Democrats. They think the more people who become poor, the more votes they will get.
Tom Daschle’s speech was complete socialist propaganda. And Chad Schuldt, one of Daschle’s bloggers, will use the same propaganda to attack John Thune for not caring for the poor. That is a complete lie. Conservatives believe the needy can best be cared for through charity, whereas Democrats pursue Marxist communism. That’s the real difference between Republicans and Democrats.
