Johnson, from Taliban to arch-conservative

South Dakota Senator Tim Johnson has this quote in today’s Argus Leader:

"It's my hope that both groups on the left and the right will take a deep breath and back off," Johnson said. "Grenades from both the liberal and arch-conservative sides don't help all that much."

I wonder if Johnson knows any arch-liberals?
