Pat Powers does a drive-by

Looks like the truth was too much for Pat Powers to handle. He goes on Keloand's web site and does a drive-by on a conservative…. me. He starts out by saying this:

I see someone is poking at me this AM, despite my resolve to ignore him and just leave him on the fringes of the South Dakota Blogosphere.

Just a couple of days ago Powers post a Sausage for Sibby piece of work. And if he was ignoring me, then he would not have read my post about why he is so mad. And the rest of his rant has other misstatements that I don’t have time this morning to detail.

Instead I will remind us abut what Pat Powers said about the Argus Leader Voices blog not including me on their blogroll last spring:

Yes, and I think nothing has done more to destroy unity in the GOP than the MAINstream coalition. Would I call them the spawn of the devil for it? No. I probably wouldn’t.

So am I going to revoke Sibby’s status in my blogroll and RSS feeds for his opinion? Absolutely not.

The SD Blogosphere is about open debate and opinions. To say you’re excluding an opinion because they sit too far on other side of the fence for you seems somewhat defeating to that spirit. If you think about it, relate it to the Hollywood blacklisting of those writers and actors who were declared communists back decades ago. I can’t imagine that today’s Argus would have condoned them being shunned by the big studio organizations because those people were "too far left." So, how can they reconcile blacklisting Steve for being "too far right?"

I personally hope they’d reconsider, and include Sibby. Because if they’re going to censor him based on what they don’t like today, who aren’t they going to like tomorrow?

During his Keloand drive-by, Pat powers attacks me for being irrational. Look who removed me from his blogroll because I am too much on the fringe. For being "too conservative". Pat Powers is the one who is irrational, as he uses the Drive-by media to paints me, a consrvative, as an extremist. You would think only a far-left Democrat  like Todd Epp would do that.

So what is going on with Pat? He seemed to go off the deep end after finding out about my efforts to put some force behind the conservative movement in South Dakota with the SDCAC. I think this statement from Powers gives us more insight into his mindset as he comments about Kephart saying Dykstra is "too conservative":

But he’s ignoring a basic tenet - the conservative voting block in the GOP doesn’t really respond well to having their viewpoints painted as being negative. Right now, the conservatives in the party are somewhat napping. But poke at them enough, and you’ll awaken a sleeping tiger…

There you have it. Pat Powers and his cronies want to put the conservatives of the Party in the background as the liberals run the show. The last thing they want is an out spoken conservative stirring up the South Dakota grass roots. I have heard that other conservatives take heat and are told to shut up…you are going to split the Party.

Yes, there are some SD GOPers who were not happy with John Thune when standing up and defeating Tom Daschle…he is "too conservative". Some joined the Daschle campaign as "Republicans for Daschle", just like Tony Dean lead the "Republicans for Johnson" crusade in 2002. And in 2005, one anonymous blogger, who claimed to be a Republican, poked fun at Thune supporters calling them the "Apple Dumpling Gang" and me a hillbilly. Pat Powers calls that "hilarious". Now that I am poking back at him, he is mad. Rush Limbaugh explains why:

The way the media covered things was never challenged. What the media covered was never challenged. What they didn't cover was never challenged. Now all those days are gone, and the left doesn't know how to deal with it. That's the reason for the anger in this country and that's the reason for the partisanship. The anger and the partisanship's not us. We're just equal time. We're just showing a different way. We're just highlighting different news. We're quoting people the Drive-Bys won't quote. We're actually telling you what liberals say. We play sound bites where you actually hear them say it.

And today I stand in opposition to Pat Powers, who used the Drive-by media to make false accusations toward me because he can’t stand it when someone will actually stand up to his BS. His drive-by on Keloand gives proof positive that Pat Powers is the Judas Iscariot of the South Dakota conservative movement. Conservatives…watch your backs.
