It took Pat Powers a day to catch up with my response to Joel Rosenthal’s Christmas Day attack on Christian conservatives by calling them "Mouseketeers". Excerpt:
I’ve said it before - the people of South Dakota ARE fiscally conservative. A majority are deeply religious, and follow the tenets of their religion. They are also fiercely independent, and don’t willingly or happily cede authority to government just because it thinks it should do something, or some do-gooder wants to ban something. That’s upheld by the fact that a majority of voters coalesce around the SDGOP.
So why would we discourage Republican legislators from trying to stop wasteful spending? Why would we call them out for trying to stop government intrusion into our lives? Criticize them? We ought to hold them up as examples to follow.
Mickey Mouse? No. Not at all.
In fact, I’d say we need more of them inhabiting the Magic Kingdom we call the State Legislature.
Even if they have a ponytail instead of a mouse tail Pat? Even one who he claims is a spawn of a former member of the Mickey Mouse club?
Perhaps Pat Powers can help us out by outing all of the Governor's Council of Economic Advisors.
UPDATE: I see Powers put his post up on Keloand too. That will make the South Dakota Democrats happy. As the SD Dems have their far-left liberal ideas on one page, the SD GOP needs to give South Dakota a true choice and put their eggs on one conservative page. Force the so-called moderates to make a ideological decsion for once in their lives. I bet most will chose traditional American over one-world socialism.
