The Mitchell Daily Republic did cover Representative Mike Vehle’s official announcement that he is running for district 20 Senate. They also reported that Dr. Joseph Graves has not officially made a decision, as they mentioned the newly adopted policy that the School Board needs to be told first.
I am speculating that he will move over to the House and become the second Republican, along with Lance Carson. That would leave me as a wildcard.
Pat Powers posted on this development, and I agree with what he said. I am not waiting for someone to call me. I want to discuss the situation with District 20 Republicans and hear what they think before I make anything official. But I am leaning to run for the Senate seat as a Republican. I will be looking into the Independent thing, as it would give me more time to develop a campaign. But I would not do that unless I believed I could win. In regard to that strategy, a lot depends on whether the Democrats will have someone in the race. And also a lot depends on how Vehle votes on the various issues in the upcoming legislative session. In particular, any legislation that moves South Dakota down the path of Hillary's Universal Pre-K agenda.
