I like to wish all a Happy New Year. A special greeting to Cory Heidelberger of the Madville Times for not only debating worldviews, but to also recognize my recent posts on Keloland. Excerpt.
But Sibson is right about one thing: KELO screwed up, blatantly, on an obvious and easy point, and the rest of us bloggers didn't call it. Why on earth not?
For what it's worth, I can say that the thought process running through my head was not, "Oh, I'd better not criticize KELO or I might lose my precious spot on their Political Bloggregator." (And for what it's worth, Steve, I got more hits from one mention in the KELO forums than I have from any of my posts on the KELO blog...
Ok I take back my charge that the blogger/mainstream media partnership has not clouded Cory’s objectivity and ability to hold Keloland accountable. Of course it would be more convincing if he cross posted that to the Keloland web site.
And I will even send greeting to Pat Powers. He starts the year out with a post that will be helpful for those of us who are contemplating running for political positions in 2008. Helping others to get involved is a good thing, and I thank him for his research. But this will not mean I will stop holding him or anyone else accountable to the truth.
For the rest of you, I hope the South Dakota blogosphere will be a source of knowledge during 2008. With 2008 an election year, the populist movement needs a forum for those of us who want to express our views and to report on angles that the Drive-by media does not.
And may God bless us all.
UPDATE: I see Cory did cross post to Keloland. Nice Job! One of my goals for 2008 is to met Cory. Excerpt:
While I was pitching snowballs at Sibson and Ellis for empowering the wealthy elites by focusing on red herrings, I missed a story about the wealthy media elite getting a story flat wrong. Why KELO got it wrong -- political conniving? too much nog for Ben Dunsmoor? -- I leave open for debate. Why I didn't cover KELO's getting it wrong -- well, even if it was just laziness and distraction on my part, it doesn't look good.
Steve, this morning, you have my apologies and my props for keeping an eye on the media. (And we'll talk plutocracy and secular humanism a little later! Happy New Year!)
Cory was intellectually honest enough to recognize the truth as he congratulates someone he disagrees with ideologically for holding the Drive-by media accopuntable. Funny, how Pat Powers, who claims to agree with me ideologically, uses the Drive-by media to trash me personally and my conservative endeavers.
