That was what Senator Dave Knudson did yesterday. SB 59 was a request from the Board of Regents to increase the Opportunity Scholarship amount to $6,000. Knudson said this:
Republican Sen. David Knudson of Sioux Falls said perhaps additional value in scholarships should be privately funded, through campus foundations and other sources.
Good point, especially since Harvey Jewett has a millions in his Great Plains Education Foundation slush fund. And that money was made with profits from Student Loan programs whose purpose is (was) to make it easier for students to obtain funding for college.
The measure passed the Senate State Affairs committee with Knudson voting "Yea". Why didn’t he stick to his guns?
