A Pat Powers deception watch
Well, based on this post, Pat Powers tries to avoid the truth and the issues by instead deflecting with personal attacks. And he responded to a comment to that post with this:
Mondak, Considering you’ve been reading and commenting since last Spetember, and my name is constantly mentioned all over the website, there’s at least one or two rotating ads with it, AND the fact that I basically do nothing to hide it, your powers of observation are stunning.
Otherwise, I think this Schaff quote sums it up the best:
"(Mondak’s) passion is matched only by his lack of grasp on the facts."
If Pat Powers wanted to "do nothing to hide it" he would label his comments "Pat Powers" and not "PP at the SDWC". Instead he attacks those who have been fooled by the tactic as being stupid. That is a fact. And he never addressed the facts that I brought forward on IM10 and anonymous free speech, but instead personally attacked me with the hillbilly slam.
Pat Powers needs to use a mirror for more things than just admiring himself. Then maybe he will stop putting himself up by putting others down so much.
And Pat, this is how you spell "September".
UPDATE: Here is an excerpt from a South Dakota Blog Watch Man post I kept:
You ask why I blog anonymously. I might ask you why you DON'T blog anonymously. I enjoy discussing politics. I enjoy keeping up with issues important to the state and the nation. I get my share of e-mails from people saying, "If you're ever going to be in Pierre (or Rapid City or Yankton or Washington D.C., send me a note and I'll buy you a beer." But I don't need to walk about with a SDBWM name tag affixed to my garanimals in order to feel good about myself. My blog is important to me, but it doesn't define me. I don't pretend that it makes me a player in the community. Nobody -- NOBODY -- knows that I write this blog, because I didn't start it to compensate for nature's shortcomings.
I thought the right to anonymous free speech would become more clear to Pat Powers with that since he so adored the SDBWM. And as we all now, Pat Powers also adores himself. So could it be that Pat Powers was the author of the SDBWM? It was the SDBWM who invented the hillbilly slam that Pat Powers used to attack me in the above mentioned post. And he did admit knowing who he was, but vowed to never disclose the identity…something that he refuses to grant to the SDCAC.
You kept a SDBWM comment from about 5 years ago, and still let it burn your hiney?
Just a little obsessive, Steve.
[Sibby's response: It was 2005, more like 3 years. Again, you are wrong with the facts.]

Steve:
Just some friendly advice. I think it might be better to explain Measure 10 and why it is a good proposal rather than getting in a p*ssing match with Pat. Be the better man and just let it slide. Tell the public why this law is needed and how it will work.
I think there are parts of it that are good and parts of it that are terrible. I wonder why such a large measure was submitted. Perhaps this should have been a several election cycle process with the less controversial measures introduced and passed first?
Anyway, I commend you for you work on this issue. I hope that while you and I may disagree on how best to get open government in South Dakota, we both believe it needs to be achieved sooner rather than later.
Best regards,
Todd Epp

[Sibby's response: I noticed you also refused to deal with this part of the post:
"So could it be that Pat Powers was the author of the SDBWM?"
If I have to get into a p*ssing match to get to the truth, then I will.
And in regard to IM10, you like the anti-crony stuff, but don't like how it impacts the education establishment. The Democrat versus Republican feud is about who controls the ever bigger government, not about limited its size. What we need is a grass roots movement within both Parties that holds its leadership accountable to the foundational principles of our country...you know, the ones that we find in the Declaration.
Hope you read it and have a inspirational 4th.]

Steve:
I'll read the Declaration of Independence on the 4th.
As to SDBWM, he's just a fond (or not so fond) memory now.
One of my issues with IM 10 is the impact (i.e., elimination) of collective bargaining agreements for public unions. I think freedom to contract is also a basic right and the CBAs spell out everyones' rights and responsibilities. I think they solve far more problems than they create. I don't think banning that's such a good idea.
Have a good 4th too. It is my most favoritest of all the national holidays.

Could it be that neither one of us was the SDBWM, and he skewered you so royally, it burns in your gut to this day?
The thing is, *I think* Todd knows who he is. I figured it out who he was (or is it she, I forget).
And you don't know if SDBWM is your next door neighbor, a member of the media, or someone you've never met in your life.
Mwaaa hah hah ha ha ha!
[Sibby's response: Anonymous slander you love, anonymous donors to a 503c(4) you hate. That is just one way for us to know just how demented you are. It would not be below you to start a web site, anonymously author another that attacks the two leading blogs that supported John Thune in 2004 and praises your own web site. Then top it off by showing how brilliant you are in figuring out the anonymous author. And now your claim to forget who the SDBWM was? We all know just how much you relish saying you are the number one blog. Go get some help for your narcissism. That will help solve your problem of hypocrisy]
