The Republican Tide, the official blog of the SD GOP has a post that states we stand for something:
As of late, some commentators have wrongly accused Republicans for not taking a stand on important issues. They are dead wrong.
The Republican legislature and Governor certainly took a stand when they signed the abortion ban in 2006.
But not all Republicans were part of the team. Stan Adelstein and other RINO-CINOs too a stand against conservatives due to that issue. And because they did, the SD GOP is not taking a stand on the IM11.
And the Republican Tide clearly states that the SD GOP has taken a stand for plutocracy:
In a desperate attempt to save Ben Nesselhuf from defeat in this year’s Dist. 17 State Senate race, the South Dakota Democratic Party has already gone negative. Yesterday, Rick Hauffe, Executive Director of the SD Democratic Party, issued a baseless press release attacking Higman and demanding he withdraw from the race for having an alleged conflict of interest because his manufacturing business received assistance from the REDI Loan Fund and the Future Fund when establishing in Vermillion, SD.
And they go on to justify this government subsidy to business:
"Higman started Masaba Mining Company three years ago and has already created over 80 new jobs in the Vermillion area- he should be commended, not attacked for Nesselhuf’s political gain."
That was a quote from Karl Adams, Chairman of the South Dakota Republican Party. Previously I posted on a Bob Mercer column that shows the economic development through government crusade as created more jobs than there are South Dakotans to fill them. So now the Governor has turned the taxpayers into job recruiters. I posted on a study that shows prosperity and economic growth happens when there is less, not more government.
Economic development through government is not a conservative principle. So when the RINO-CINOs who are leading the SD GOP are held accountable by liberal Democras and teh liberal media for giving taxpayer funds to special interest, it reflects poorly on "conservative Republicans". GOP corruption was a big factor for Republicans losing in 2006 what conservatives fought hard to gain in 2002 and 2004. Today, conservatives are being blamed for splitting the SD GOP due to our stand on abortion. That is wrong. It is the RINO-CINO wing of the Party that is causing the trouble. It is time for conservatives to publicly state that we are against the big government liberal policies that include the plutocratic based "economic development through government" agenda. We must clearly state that these are not conservative principles of a limited government. The conservative movement that I foster is about saving the Republican Party, saving South Dakota, and saving America from liberal policies that promote big governemnt.
