Republican U.S. Sen. John Thune says the GOP faces a difficult political environment going into Tuesday's election.
The first-term senator says the party that controls the White House generally gets the blame when things aren't going well. Thune says he's hearing concerns about the economy, the war in Iraq and the nation in general in his travels around the country.
He says it's unlikely that Republicans will regain a majority in the House or Senate in this election.
