From Tom Daschle (I think):
I wanted to share with you an article that appeared in my hometown paper of Aberdeen, SD this morning: Daschle Accepts New Role.
After several weeks of considering various opportunities, I have decided to serve as a Public Policy Advisor at the law firm of Alston & Bird. This will give me an opportunity to continue to work on issues that I care so deeply about – renewable energy and health care, to name a couple – and also allow me the time to remain active in other areas.
One area of particular interest is to continue my involvement with issues critical to Native Americans. I will be traveling across South Dakota in a couple of weeks and will be meeting with many of our tribal leaders to seek their thoughts and advice on a way that I can continue to make an impact in this area.
As I reflect on my 26 years in Congress, I am tremendously grateful for the opportunity I had to serve the people of South Dakota and the nation. While my job title may have changed, my commitment to public service and for taking on the issues we care about, has not.
As Thomas Jefferson wrote, "I believe in the dreams of the future more than the history of the past." So it is with me. I look forward to continuing to work with you as we fight for the dreams of the future...
He jumps in with the capitalists and quotes Thomas Jefferson. Just a short time ago he was on the campaign trail quoting socialists like FDR. Maybe he has changed? Or is it just another con job?
