Media bias

Yesterday there was a Talon News report on the media bias regarding Christopher Dodd's racist statements:

Although thousands of people have signed a petition calling for a public and official rebuke of Sen. Christopher Dodd (D-CT) since last Thursday, mainstream media and members of the Democratic and Republican Parties have maintained their silence regarding comments made by Dodd on the floor of the U.S. Senate on April 1.

Yesterday, Talon News ran a second report regarding media bias:

A document unearthed from the papers of former Democratic South Dakota Senator James Abourezk reveals that his aide, the future Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle collaborated with a political reporter to gain positive coverage. The internal memorandum, titled the "Weekly Report" is dated 10/15/76 and identifies Daschle's college colleague, David Kranz, then Managing Editor of the Mitchell Daily Republic, as "very much a strong Demo" and someone who has "been attending county Demo functions together [with Daschle]."

Kranz, now the political reporter for South Dakota's largest newspaper, the Sioux Falls Argus Leader, was the subject of a 2003 Talon News investigative series that exposed his 35-year relationship with Daschle amidst allegations of bias. The memo, found in the archives of the I.D. Weeks Library at the University of South Dakota appears to provide confirmation of accusations that have been made over three decades.
