Remember my post regarding the email I received in response to my Tony Dean column in “the Bird”? The debate continues. Here is a link to The Duck Hunters Refuge Forum where someone has compared Tony Dean to Michael Moore, and uses that same email I received (and Tony Dean posted it) as an example. Excerpt:
After reading some posts on Tony Dean’s website I started thinking he may be the closest thing SD has to Michael Moore. He posted an email from a reader who claimed that Clinton’s IQ is 181 and George W Bush’s is 91. Of course it was a total fabrication but since Tony himself didn’t write it he can’t be held up to normal journalistic standards. He only posted it. He posted another statement from one of Daschle’s buddies who self-righteously proclaims that the NRA supports Teflon bullets to kill cops. When he says that I can only assume that he means the dense metal core bullets that are coated with Teflon to protect the barrels of the guns that are firing them. The Teflon doesn’t do anything to make it penetrate a flak jacket anymore than the ammo you can buy at Dakota Mart. If he weren’t so ignorant he would know that the NRA helped pass the legislation that banned the sale of those same bullets to the public. He also said that the NRA supports plastic composite guns to avoid detection. He is probably referring to the Glock 17 here. It had the anti-gun whackos all worked up in a fury a few years ago because it supposedly could avoid detection in airport security. Never mind that it doesn’t and there aren’t any guns that can. As long as you can score cheap political points against the hated NRA you don’t have to tell the truth. Being in the US Army for two years seems to make him an expert on guns even though this guy states that he only carries a gun to hunt game in the fall. How cosmopolitan. I’ve fired every small arms weapon in the US Army and most crew served weapons. I shot five raccoons and one skunk this past week. I’m afraid to say what guns I may have shot some of them with for fear of frightening anyone who is afraid of a bayonet lug on an accurate sporting firearm.Later in the thread you will find this response to the above comment:
I used to watch his show all the time but not anymore. Tony Dean is confused, misinformed, and just plain wrong most of the time. I think his heart's in the right place but not his mind. Then there is this:
I am with ya on this waders!! In my opinion Dean has been and always will be full of crap!!! The very sad thing is a very few people listen to him.
UPDATE: DVT has a great post on Daschle's failure to denounce the lies of Michael Moore. It will be interesting to see if Tony Dean will fail to denounce Daschle's anti-gun votes and endorse Daschle. I am 100% confident the NRA (including the South Dakota affiliate) will be endorsing John Thune.
