Finally we have someone on the South Dakota GOP Establishment's blog admit the truth:

One can only wonder how many legislative voting report cards ”conservative” groups will bless us with this year, but at the rate they are going it appears we can inevitably expect a few more. First we had The South Dakota Freedom Index, then the SD GOP’ers and most recently The Life and Liberty Group. Now, I don’t have anything against any individual or group that has a different political view than I do.

Yeah the RINO Establishment does not like Freedom, Liberty, Life, or their conservative platform. They only like power and money.

Tyranny in the SDGOP exposed at the South Dakota War College; both RINOs and Marxists want "illegals"

Finally we have conservative Republicans waking up to the fact that just because a candidate has a "R" after his name, does not mean they are not part of the Big Government agenda. Stace Nelson has been putting a huge amount of light on the GOP dominated South Dakota legislature and his efforts were the subject of yet another SDWC post. One of the main defenders of the SDGOP Establishment, other than Bill Fleming, has been Troy Jones. He left this comment at the SDWC:

As soon as this started, I knew how it would end. Relationships and trust is severely damaged. In a place with 105 people, burning bridges leaves one very few roads to travel.

As much as MC might think this saga can/will end, the genie is out of the bottle. He fed it. It was the issue that caused me to remove my name from the SDWC banner.

If this issue was Stace and just one of the people he has targeted, I might be open on the issue. But all these people vs. Stace. MC, you can have Stace.

Seems like there is a little discontent among the ranks of the SDGOP Establishment's blog site.

Then we have an anonymous comment that says:

The party in power runs the Exec Board and makes the rules as they see fit, period. They can do what they want, follow or disregard as they want and punish as they want. There are no “rights” in law of any kind, only promises among members that can be disregarded at will.

Obviously the idea of a tyranny is perfectly OK. And now comes the retaliation as expreseed by another anonymous comment:

I think we will witness the same this year with Mr Nelson. Granted a few of his ilk will stop and listen to him, the vast majority will stay far, far away. You can run into the proverbial wall in all your glory but you don’t serve the people who elected you when your voice (blogs don’t count) won’t be heard.

Troy Jones follows up with this:

MC says above Stace Nelson is “not a politician and has no political ambition.”

Stace Nelson says above those he helped will have a new report card for the 2012 primary and he is going to give tbem ammunition.

War has been declared on the GOP caucus that resisted a tax increase and cut state spending 10%. MC and Sibby appear ready to be the gun runners. We will see if it turns out to be a “Fast and Furious” type program or not.

By the way MC, my comment is you fed the issue here using the SDWC brand given to you in stewardship. You make it clear you are supportive of Nelson as you continually give credence and have made no effort to get the otherside. Plus you use your administrator privilege and pass the info onto him.

Oh so the SDWC brand has marching orders? If you want the power, you have to play by the Establishment's rules. And the idea that there will be accountability placed on the legislators' voting record does not seem to welcomed. Troy claims the GOP caucus resisted tax increases, but the Scorecard includes HB1192...an increase in car registration fees whose veto was overridden by the GOP dominated Legislature. And cutting spending by 10%? Troy must not have read the truth about the spending acually increasing thanks to the SDGOP happily spending Obama's so-called stimulus.

Stace Nelson's response included this:

This is probably the worst example of the sickness within the Republican Party, that I have seen. It is a perfect example of the problems some of us face in Pierre. The arrogant few who think that THEY have dominion over the party even to the point of going against the party platform that grass roots SD Republicans enact.

This anonymous comment provides insight into how the Establishment types view conservatives:

The story here is basically the Tea Party Establishment is accusing the GOP establishment. The real story is the demise of the South Dakota Tea Party. Don’t they see it? Stacey and friends need to look around and notice the scant attendance at their Tea Party meetings and that only libertarian, Paulbot and Bircher activists remain. The rest of us left. It’s pathetic. Who voted for the 912 Glenn Beck Circlejerk for Liberty sector of the South Dakota Tea Party to become our philosophical purity police? I didn’t.

Not suprosed to see Democrat activist Bill Fleming responds to that with this:

Wow. Good post. Sobering.

Then this anonymous response to Fleming:

God I hate it when Flemming and I are on the same side!

And Troy Jones says:

Me too. Bill too. When we agree, Bill and I each look out the window just to make sure there still is a sun.

The reality is that if a member of the GOP sees themselves aligned with Bill Fleming, they need to understand that they may be a RINO. But Troy Jones spins with the typical personal attacks that are common among the Big Government tyrants from both political parties:

According to Stacey Nelson and Bob Ellis, I am a liberal and a RINO.

And they have told have told me to either think like them or become a Democrat.

Unfortunately, I dont think they want me either. So I am thinking about becoming eithea Mason (if I can drive one of those litte cars in parades) or a Knight of Columbus (oopsI am a Knight).

So J rae, they dont demand I think like them. Tbat is an oxymoron since they don’t think. They want me to hate like them. They are good at hate.

Then Troy Jones brings up the issue that the leaders of the both parties need to protect in order to bring on their New World Order...illegal immigration:

This issue started all because a few people believed it would be automatic to pass their vision to deal with illegal immigration. When it got crushed in committee 11-2 and their smoke-out petition got crushed with only 19 votes, they decided they were going to “smoke-out” those who disagreed with them.

Then, it appears they selected 20 bills that would “show” their GOP opponents in the worst light (I really don’t believe the midwife/birthing centers et. al. bills are significant but only needed to get the results they want) in a “report card” shrouded by misinterpreting/manipulating the GOP platform to claim “Republican purity,” a tactic they appear to be borrowing from liberal nut job Saul Alinsky.

My point: Saul Alinsky never cries uncle. He just napalms the environment until they “win.”

Funny how these Big Government activists believe that everyone uses their tactics too. What Troy does not understand is that he is on the same side as the Marxist Demcorats who want more oppressed "illegals" to join their communist revolution. What are the RINOs doing in bed with the "illegals". Cheap labor?

But Troy is not done. Here he goes into full spin mode:

Here is our situation as I see it.

1) We have certain Republicans who have a particular outlook and agenda and believe that certain issues define which Republicans are “real Republicans” based on these issues and the rest are Republicans In Name Only. They give the following bills the 30% of the weight in defining Republicanism. Taxes, Agriculture, jobs, spending. NADA!

a) Regulation of midwives.
b) Allow birthing centers
c) Permissable excuse for missing school
d) History Standards
e) Grandparents Rights
f) Custody rights

2) They also advocate certain reforms in the Legislative process they believe will aid them in “outing” those they believe are RINO’s.

3) They are willing to introduce bills that support their agenda for the purpose of impacting those they believe are RINO’s (obstensibly in primaries?).

4) They are frustrated that the GOP leadership does not endorse their efforts and agenda and characterize all who oppose them as “RINO” or “defenders of the establishment.”

5) And, in their frustration they cry “corruption” and other inferences of malfeasance.

Protecting your livestock with your Second Amendment Right is not important to Ag? So RINOs think fees are not taxes, so it is OK to raise them? We need to let the New World Order plan the economy and we need to be thankful to them for our jobs? Sounds like a recipe for tyranny to me. And corruption? Where else would you go with those who support "illegals"? How much of that issue was the 70% that Troy did not detail?

But his Big Government propaganda inspired a fellow RINO named "anooner" to say this:

I would go watch that if it was closer to home, however Lust, Turb., etc are not going to show. Nothing for them to gain personally or for the party. While I only know Rep. Nelson from his incessant and unrelenting blogging, my guess is he would use this opportunity primarily for grandstanding and fist-pounding. When I mention months ago that I found his constant blogging in bad form, I became a “truth-hater” or “unamerican” etc. Didn’t really expect him to tone it down based on what I said, but thought someone in his own party could reach and tell him to cool it. Guess not. Now he has locked horns with his own leadership which is surprising, and has done so without much tact or forethought. You have heard of moose who lock horns in a rut and can’t get unlocked. They eventually just laydown and die. If Stace can get himself unlocked from this one he best just wander off into the woods and rest up. If this whole thing was brought on in part bc of his indignation over a crap immigration bill not getting out of committee, he needs to toughen up. The thing probably died in committee because clearer minds recognized issues of enforcement, practical considerations and unintended consequences. It is sometimes know as a broader perspective, the big picture or even vision. But in a black and white world, the people who snuffed that bill and others are “bad rebulicans”. Stace, did it ever occur to you that the other legislators have consistuents also, and they are trying to represent their interests, and not just Stace’s agenda. Your problem is you take things too personally. You don’t need to respond to every comment on every blog. Lastly, I made the little WWF parody, to hopefully entertain a little bit, but also mirror the absurdity of where this whole thing has taken us.

Again, illegal immigration comes up. Of course Troy Jones (Mr. they hate, we love) is all too happy to agree with this insult  put forward by the anonymous chicken:

It has been my position from the beginning this “issue” is wholly influenced by the lack of support the immigration bill got among the caucus and a view anyone who disagrees with them is not a “real Republican.”

Since I’ve seen no evidence this faction will relent on these positions (especially the latter), I’m fearful this could be a fight to the end.

Hey Troy, ever think that anybody who compromises America's rule of law as not being a real American, let alone a real Republican? So we are to drop the American boundaries and become part of the New World Order? Why else is it that the leadership of both political parties support "illegals"? What part of "illegal" does the leaderships of both political parties not understand?

SD Chamber of Commerce's position on ballot measures shows its greed and socialist agenda

Dave Owens of the South Dakota Chamber of Commerce was in Mitchell yesterday addressing the 2012 South Dakota ballot measures:

Dave Owen, president of the South Dakota Chamber of Commerce and Industry, gave local business and political leaders an entertaining preview of issues lawmakers will tackle when the 2012 legislative session swings into action next month.

Hop-scotching through the issues during a noon luncheon meeting at Pizza Ranch, Owen said two public referendums will be of major concern in 2012, namely the added 1 percent sales tax that will be on the November ballot and the repeal of House Bill 1230, which will go on the ballot as Referred Law 14.

The added 1 percent would be used to raise additional funds for education and state Medicaid funding.

The Referred Law 14 referendum, a veto measure, was spearheaded by the state’s Democrats. It would repeal HB1230, which would otherwise go into effect on Jan. 1, 2013.

That law will set aside 22 percent of contractor excise revenues into a special large project development fund. It would be up to the state Board of Economic Development to decide which projects — $5 million or greater — would receive money from the fund.

“We’re not opposed to, or in favor of, the 1 percent sales tax increase,” Owen said, “but we’re critical of the procedures in that law for the long term.”

The roughly $170 million that would be gained from the added 1 percent is exclusively reserved for education and additional Medicaid funding would be tightly restricted, he said.

“We understand that money is important for the people doing that campaign, but we also understand that long term, to leave the Legislature so little control over the budget is not wise,” Owen said.

So the belief that the Chamber is a conservative organization should be put to rest with the admission that they are not opposed to the sales tax increase. Their problem is that they don't have control over how it is spent through their lobbying and campaign contributions. In 2008, IM10 was to reform those two abuses, but the Chamber joined forces with the far-left NEA to oppose IM10. If that is not enough evidence to show the corruption of the political process in Pierre, then look at the Chamber's position in HB 1230:

He said the state chamber is against repealing HB1230. “We’ll be asking people to vote ‘yes’ on Referred Law 14,” he said. (A yes vote would be a vote to veto the repeal.)

South Dakota has taxes on capital projects that are higher than most other states, he explained.

“This would allow the governor to offset some of those taxes so (businesses) can get up and running and South Dakota doesn’t lose for expansions of local manufacturing because of the cost of that tax,” he said.

State Sen. Mike Vehle, R-Mitchell, also remained hopeful that HB1230 would not be repealed.

“We do need the ability to bring businesses into our state and that money has been used wisely,” he said, especially for some businesses in the Mitchell area.

So when it comes to the sales tax issue, the Chamber says the legislature should control how it is spent, but when it comes to excise tax, the legislature should be bypassed and contol should be placed in a committee of business specials interests under the direction of the governor. Clearly the political positions of the SD Chamber of Commerce is not based on conservative principles, but instead based on what is best for its big corporate special interests. 

Anybody want to guess who provides Senator Mike Vehle with campaign contributions? He talks about economic development when the government spends the money, by fails to talk about the harm done to the economy when taxes are collected and taken out of the economy. The SDGOP's brand of capitalism is not conservative based free markets. It is a fascist form of socialism that uses government to pick winners and losers. And the bigger you are, the more likely it is that you will be picked to be the winner. The losers are small business, taxpayers, and the consumers. Amazing how we let the economy suffer by allowing the corrupt to control the economy in the name of creating jobs through economic development. It is all deception and lies. Yes, we are on the Road to Serfdom.

South Dakota's Medicaid budget is overstated by nearly $100,000, while setting the stage to raise taxes and fund Obamacare

[Another Update: So I see this web site is back on the SDWC sidebar. They must think the war against the RINOs is over.]

[UPDATE:I see the chicken tyrants over at the SDWC are willing to attack those who are banned from the site and can't defend themselves. Back in the days when conservatives were winning for the SDGOP, the SDGOP went after the Argus leader for being in bed with Democrats. Now it looks the the SDGOP Establishment has made up with the Argus Leader and are having a hot love affair.]

There is an all out effort to raise South Dakota's Sales Tax 25% and put half of that extra revenue into the Medicaid program. I have been studying the latest budget proposal that Governor Daugaard introduced on Tuesday and discovered a very interesting fact. The Medicaid program's latest spending level was $647,392,976 for the year just ended June 30, 2011. The approved FY2011 budget for Medicaid was $725,656,365. The current Medicaid budget for FY2012 is $736,786,901 and the Governor is proposing $744,256,807 for FY2013. That is $96,863,831 higher than what we just got done spending! Since approximately 35 percent of that overage would be in the General Fund, we can safely say that we can cut $34 million from the proposed budget. [These facts also demonstrate that the trumpeted $127 million budget cut last year was completely bogus.]

Clearly there is no need to increase sales taxes by 25%, only to add another $90 million to the Medicaid program's General Fund. With federal match, that would mean that the South Dakota Medicaid  program would increase by over $250,000,000, and in and above the already $97 million overage proposed for 2013. Yes that is a quarter of a million dollars or nearly 40% higher than what we spent in the year just ended June 30, 2011. The total overage is about $350 million or 53%.

So what is going on? Moving South Dakota Forward is the organization behind the ballot initiative to increases our sales tax by 25%. They say:

In 2011, there were approximately 114,000 people enrolled in Medicaid in South Dakota – that’s one out of every seven South Dakotans.  Roughly half of all children born in our state qualify for Medicaid.  We expect increasing demands on this system as the State projects Medicaid enrollment will grow to 168,100 people by 2014.

That is why they need the Medicaid program to grow by more than 50%. So why would Medicaid enrollees increase 47%, as predicted by "the State"? The answer is Obamacare. And South Dakota already implemented Obamacare during the last legislative session with SB38 and SB43. If you look at the Republican Platform Voting Scorecard, you will see that only 3 Senators voted against SB38. They were 3 of the 4 Senators who scored above 50% on the scorecard. On the House side, no Democrat voted against SB38 or SB43. 29 Republicans voted against SB38, while only 16 Republicans voted against SB43. No Senator voted against SB43 and Governor Duagaard signed both bills into law.

So it took RINOs plus all the Democrats to pass Obamacare in South Dakota, and the result is going to be higher taxes. The media will not tell the citizens these truths, and the Establishment SDGOP web site (South Dakota War College) is sheilding its readers from this web site. Seems that we have the SDGOP Establishment, far-left Democrats, and the media all protecting RINOs by suppressing truth. Why? Because they all benefit from a Big Government which benefits Big Business.

Yes we have the media helping donkeys kick the small guy in the head while RHINOs stomp them into the ground.

Mitchell Daily Republic shows the Argus Leader how to fairly report on the “Republican Platform Voting Scorecard”

[UPDATE: There was a problem with on claim in the MDR report. Stace Nelson never denied putting up the web site. The reporter must have been confused with the cover conduced by the far-left Democrats and the GOP Establishment RINOs on the SDWC and Madville TImes comment sections. Also note that this post did not show up on the SDWC Update sidebar. This web site has been shielded from the readers of SDWC since the scorecard became known. Another demonstration of the type of tyranny we find in the SDGOP Establishment.]

On Sunday the Argus Leader published a misleading piece by Jonathan Ellis on the Republican Platform Voting Scorecard. Excerpt:

So the authors decided whether a bill qualified as Democratic or Republican. If that sounds subjective, well, it is. Thus, a bill that allowed landowners to shoot coyotes from snowmobiles on their own property was labeled a Republican bill, while a bill increasing the fees on license plate renewals was called a Democratic bill, even though it had a number of Republican sponsors.

First off, Ellis sidetracked the basis of the Scorecard, which was the SDGOP Platform. And Ellis clearly does not understand defending property rights by exercising the Second Amendment Right by shooting predators from a snowmobile. He also doesn't understand how RINO Republicans protect special interest such as the Corporate Medical Establishment with regulations.

Ellis is still stuck on the false belief that if you are a Republican you vote the Republican line:

And they decided whether the bills qualified as Democratic or Republican. You might think that’s easy, right? Democratic bills were ones sponsored by Democrats; Republican bills, sponsored by Republicans. But some of the bills were sponsored by members of both parties. And one which the authors labeled a Democratic bill was actually brought at the request of the governor’s office. Last time I checked, Gov. Dennis Daugaard was still a Republican.

The Scorecard clearly shows the fallacy of that shallow thought process. HB1230, which allows the governor to pick winners among "big projects", should be firmly discarded by anyone who believes in a government that should be limited in scope.

And Ellis also has trouble dealing with illegal immigration:

It seems, to me, to be a little presumptuous of the authors to decide what’s Republican and what’s not. Take illegal immigration. Sure, lots of Republicans want them all deported. But there are plenty of other Republicans who see the population as a valuable part of the workforce.

Republicans who want cheap "illegal" labor for their Big Business cohorts and campaign contributors have a lot more problems than following their Platform's insistence on using the Constitution, the Law of the Land. What the heck is Ellis on? Was he just trying to be funny? Or is he serious here:

One final observation about the site: There are several grammatical errors in the text, so perhaps the authors will want to remain anonymous. Let’s hope they aren’t products of the South Dakota public school system.

At least he understand how personal attacks are used and helps justify those who want to remain anonymous.

Today The Mitchell Daily Republic issued a front-page report titled, "SD GOPers stir pot with new legislator rankings" that actually gave a fair presentation to its readers:

The site — www.sdrepublican.org — is presented as a “snapshot” of how legislators voted on some issues, compared with the planks of the state Republican Party platform.

I was also quoted:

Local blogger Steve Sibson said he also acted as a consultant for the new site, but his involvement was not extensive.

He would not disclose the names of the people he spoke with. He said the state GOP has a history of being vindictive.

“They don’t want to be identified and I can understand why they don’t want to be exposed. They’ve got jobs they want to keep,” Sibson said.

Sibson said the voting record disclosed on the new website confirms what he has known all along — namely, that the GOP leans left in the Senate and the state House of Representatives is more conservative.

And the paper even disclosed how Distrcit 20 Republicans ranked:

Mitchell’s three Republican lawmakers all received lower scores. Sen. Mike Vehle got 36 percent; Rep. Tona Rozum, 50 percent; and Rep. Lance Carson, 28 percent.

It would have been better to add their responses to the results. But the report did get this response:

Tony Post, executive director of the South Dakota Republican Party, said he hasn’t had time to study the site, but he’s not worried about it.

Post said the site shows the energy of the state GOP, a quality he says is lacking on the Democratic side of the aisle. Republicans are fired up and want make sure their legislators are following the party line, he said.

“Here’s the dichotomy,” he said. “We have an organic movement of Republicans and conservatives who are doing what they feel is right. On the other side of the fence, you have apathy and a ‘Draft Matt Varilek’ movement that’s as organic as a corndog.”

Varilek, who last week announced a candidacy for the U.S. House, is a former staffer of U.S. Sen. Tim Johnson, DS.D.

Post dismissed any possibility that there will be retaliation for those who put the website together.

Well then let us revisit what happened in 2008 to Jewel Breard:

Pat Powers has put out some information, that if true (and you never know about Powers), brings into light a very troubling political environment within the South Dakota Republican Party leadership:

Some of what I had mentioned in passing as changes happening at the GOP office seems to filtering out. Word I’m hearing from an independent source tonight that GOP Finance Director Jewel Breard is no longer with the state party as of Friday, primarily because of the actions of her husband Lee Breard.

And Pat Powers shows his sign of approval regarding this bully tactic with this:

I’d personally like to wish Jewel well in her future endeavors, and hopefully her husband’s political crusades won’t serve as a detraction for her employment again.

So if personally attacking those they disagree with doesn’t work, Pat Powers and his cohorts who are running the SD GOP will go after family members and their livelihoods. What other organizations are known to use such bullying tactics?

Pat Powers and his "No on 10" cohorts were against going after family when a citizen received no-bid contracts from the government. But they have no problem with going after a family member of one who they disagree with a spouse's "political crusade". Obviously their motives are not based on principle, but instead are concerned about maintaining their power. Anybody who poses a threat to their power are publicly humiliated and their family members become targets. And what do they target, people's jobs. And the more government jobs these big government liberals can create, the more control they have over our lives. That is exactly what the NEA's agenda is. It is not about quality for teachers, it is about the quantity.

The next question becomes, will the leaders of the SD GOP admit to firing an employee based on political activities of a spouse. That may open the door to an issue of retribution. If the deny that, then Pat Powers needs to provide the identity of his "independent source". Of course Pat Powers will not do what he expected me to do. That would be too principled.
