Since Pat Powers has deleted his web site, I can't link to the posts where he claims that the party leadership does not take sides in the primary. A couple of weeks ago, this was reported by the Mitchell Daily Republic:
Asked about Sibson’s candidacy, Vehle said “it’s a free country” and added that it’s good to have people running for office.
Davison County Republican Party Chairwoman Donna Weiland said Vehle has represented the party well, and she sees no reason for a change.
“We will support what we already have,” Weiland said, referring to Vehle and District 20’s two representatives, Lance Carson and Tona Rozum, who are both Republicans from Mitchell.
So clearly Pat Powers was wrong or lied. I have received an email from Weiland saying they will "NOT" be letting District 20 candidates speak at the Davison County Lincoln Day Dinner. I am sure Vehle is happy about that decision. There will be one less change for Republicans to know they have a choice in the priomary and what the differences will be among the candidates. After all, the leadership of the Davison County GOP "will support what we already have". They have already made the decision for everybody.
I love Donna. Not good for her to have been quoted as such.

Mr. Sibby, it is wrong for them to take that stance against you. You hang in there young man, and give them a whatfer.
We need you to go to Pierre.

Who is Vehle trying to kid ?
"It's a free country" ?
Sure Mike. A country where the government can force us to buy health insurance (and presumably anything else they deem "necessary and proper" in the future).
That's not "free". Living under the threat of coercion and force is slavery-not freedom.
But if it makes you feel better Mike, keep repeating to yourself the time-tested Orwellian mantra:
War is Peace-Freedom is Slavery-Ignorance is Strength.
