While watching last night's State of the Union address, I couldn't help but notice the anger coming out of the Democratic side of the isle. The President started out with this:
"I call upon all of us to set aside our differences, to seek out common ground, and to summon the unity we need to deliver for the people we were elected to serve.
And the Democratic response:
"What he did was drive further wedges in Congress," said U.S. Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., a leading Trump critic in Washington. "He was throwing a lot of red meat to his narrow base."
If the address was to create such discomfort, why not just stay home?
All Americans should be concerned about MS-13:
Evelyn Rodriguez, whose daughter was killed by a notorious gang, was invited to attend President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address on Tuesday.
In September 2016, Rodriguez’s daughter, Kayla Cuevas, was killed by members of MS-13 in Brentwood, New York.
MS-13 is a violent, transnational gang founded in Los Angeles by El Salvadoran refugees.
Kayla, 16, and her friend, Nisa Mickens, 15, were beaten with a baseball bat and stabbed with a machete when they were accosted by 10 members of the gang.
One of the members involved with the murders was a previously deported illegal immigrant who had re-entered the United States.
The gang is blamed for 25 murders on Long Island since January 2016, according to Fox News.
MS-13 seeks to instill fear in people through machete attacks, gang rape, and human trafficking, Robert Hur, an official at the Department of Justice, told Fox News in 2017.
MS-13’s motto is “mata, viola, controla,” which means “kill, rape, control.”
Trump has made targeting MS-13 a top priority since he launched his presidential campaign in 2015.
“I just want what’s right to be done,” Rodriguez told The New York Times. “Everybody should put their political agenda aside and think about what’s going on in our country.”
Rodriguez was invited to the White House to speak with Trump before the address Tuesday night.
During the State of the Union address, Trump is expected to speak about the dangers that illegal immigration poses to the U.S., citing MS-13 and related crime as examples.
But MS-13 is the last thing Democrats and the mainstream media want to include in their immigration discussions:
The hissing and catcalling from Democrats began when Trump began his talk on immigration by talking about how "open borders have allowed drugs and gangs to pour into our most vulnerable communities," rather than talk about the 690,000 unauthorized immigrants brought to the U.S. children, known as "dreamers," who the president now is threatening to deport.
He did offer a deal to let them stay, but only if Congress agreed to fund a border wall that Trump had promised Mexico would pay for, ended the practice of allowing American citizens to sponsor family members and allow them to enter the U.S. and ended a lottery system that encouraged immigrants from certain countries.
All of those people undergo extensive background checks and, in the case of relatives, may have to wait more than a decade before being allowed to come to the U.S.
Rep. Leonard Lance, R-7th Dist., said Trump's proposal was a good-faith effort to start negotiations on an immigration bill. "I interpreted the speech on calling or bipartisan cooperation on that issue," he said.
Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman, D-12th Dist., rejected that assessment.
“We were not fooled by his disingenuous calls to unify the nation when he has spent his entire presidency castigating and scapegoating immigrants, and stoking fear of violent immigrants terrorizing our communities," she said.
Pointing out the crimes committed by MS-13 is not part of some anti-Muslim Islamophobe conspiracy that is being fabricated by the Islamists and parroted by leftists. Instead of just staying home last night, the Democratic leadership's anger caused them to disrespect a mother who knows the problem to be very real. Not nearly enough Americans have heard about it yet.
It is time to reject the Muslim Brotherhood's propaganda and honestly deal with those who want to come to America and want to destroy it by wrecking havoc in our streets. Just as bad are those who want to destroy free speech, so they can control the conversation and avoid the truth. Yesterday I confirmed yet again that I am banned from Cory Heidelberger's web site as he uses my name to personally attack those who want to protect South Dakota from our enemies.
They're afraid of facts and civil discourse, that's why you are blocked. It's a strategy commonly used by Leftists, I'm sure you're well aware of that.
Democrats aside, what a great SOTU address.
God bless America.
